Answer: Originally - a home page was the web page that your browser opened when it started up. More common today - a home page refers to the main page for a web site. |
A web page consists of different types of files (text, graphics, sound, video, etc.) that contain information and probably links to other resources to the internet. The term "home page" is generally referring to the starting page of a web site.
Most sites start with a file called index.html. From that starting point or "home page" you should have a general idea about what the site offers.
Another careless use of home page refers to any web page as a homepage.
Remember to look at the URL and identify the owner of the page. The TILDE ~ usually represents a user's account on a service.
